Default Please Help!! "No Input File Specified"

I installed "successfully" and the index (home) page is working fine. The admin panel is also working perfectly. BUT when I try to click a link, eg; online shop, about, contact us....etc....it says "No input file specified" Did I do something wrong or is this a bug?

Please help me with this. I have tried everything and nothing is working. Has anybody encountered this problem and successfully fixed it?

    THank you very very much,

    Tawnya

    Default I tried this too...

So I went to the admin panel of my site. And under Configuration > Global Settings > URLS rewritting it gives you an option of structure and linux versus windows hosting options.

Now, it says to copy the code (I have linux, so I chose the top chunk of code) and I created a file named .htaccess (in dreamweaver). Then I uploaded the file to the root of the install directory on my server.

So now instead of receiving the message "no input file specified" I'm just getting 404 errors...

I do not know which error is better to receive, but hopefully I'm closer than before!!

If anybody can help me out from this point it would be greatly appreciated!!

    This issue has been resolved.

In the admin panel it said to upload the .htaccess to the "root of your install directory". Well, I thought that meant put .htaccess inside the "install" folder.

You need to place it in the root of the entire site. If you put it anywhere else then you need to specify which folder it is in..."somefolder/index.php"

    Cheers!
